Overview

Aircraft Mechanic 2 (CH-47/AH-64/UH-60 – NDI II) based at Wheeler AAF, HI. Oversees and performs maintenance on helicopters and nondestructive inspection (NDI) of aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity, following drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. Performs fluid analysis as part of inspection activities. Responsibilities

May be required to perform any Aircraft Mechanic I task as needed. Oversees removal and installation of aircraft subsystem assemblies (engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and components). Oversees servicing, lubrication and maintenance of aircraft and subsystems. Oversees preparation of aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks. Oversees and performs scheduled inspections and assists with special inspections. Oversees and performs limited maintenance operational checks; assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting subsystems using specialized tools and equipment. Oversees use of tools and aircraft ground support equipment; performs operator maintenance as required. Oversees preparation of forms and records related to aircraft maintenance. Oversees, removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft; maintains supplies and performs preventive maintenance. Performs additional duties, including maintenance tasks, as requested. Adheres to company policies and safety programs with a safety-first mentality. Performs parts processing and equipment standardization; prepares parts before or after inspection. Follows written instructions and methods for which certified; receives guidance from Level III as necessary. Sets up and standardizes equipment, conducts tests, interprets results for acceptance or rejection, and documents findings. Is familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method in which certified; provides guidance to trainers and Level I personnel in that method. Familiar with applicable codes, standards, and contractual documents that govern the method as used by the employer. Develops written instructions from approved general procedures; determines test method and prepares fluids and parts for NDI; interprets NDI results and communicates defects to the repair center. Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required. U.S. military technical school or specialized training desired; certification of education level required. Valid up-to-date A&P license (optional). Three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience within the six most recent years. Ability to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic. May receive technical guidance from supervisor; may lead teams on complex tasks and may log entries in aircraft logs/records. Must be trained and qualified per NAS 410 or ASNT-CP-189 to the assigned level. Experience in maintenance, modification, and repair of tactical aircraft systems and their components. Completion of an initial Non-Destructive Inspection Level II training course and current basic qualifications. Three or more years’ experience as an aviation inspector. Valid Driver’s License. Must provide own tools/toolbox; toolbox requirements provided upon selection. Must be able to work day, swing, night, and weekend shifts as required for CBA. Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and travel internationally (OCONUS work sites). Clearance Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization. Knowledge & Skills

Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS. Advanced knowledge of aircraft tools and test equipment; proficiency with MAC and technical publications. Ability to prioritize workloads and maintain project schedules. Ability to inspect all required aeronautical maintenance and provide guidance as needed. Physical Requirements / Working Environment

Must be able to walk, stand, climb stairs/ladders, and maneuver in varied environments. Lift/push/pull heavy objects as needed; ability to use a keyboard; handle dirty parts and lubricants. Willingness to wear PPE and pass respirator fit tests; may operate power vehicles, tools, and ground support equipment. Work may be in maintenance shop or outdoors; environment may be drafty, noisy, and dirty; potential exposure to electrical hazards and moving parts; may work in austere environments and all-weather conditions. Compensation & Benefits

Hawaii Pay Transparency: Hiring salary range is $92,830.40 per year (hourly rate as per CBA).
