Overview
The Chief Medical Officer has the executive responsibility for managing the Hospital's support functions for Medical Staff responsibilities. This full-time administrative position provides leadership to Medical Staff Services, Quality & Case Management, Risk Management, Medical Records and Medical Education. The role serves as an advocate for the medical staff while participating as a member of the Executive Management Team to strengthen relationships between the hospital and its medical staff. This role does not replace or usurp the authority of the Chief of Staff, the Medical Staff department or committees. Essential Functions
Provide leadership direction for the Medical Staff and develop/implement strategic plans to achieve the goals of the function. Provide leadership direction and supervision of the Medical Staff Office and other functional areas as assigned. Provide support to the Chief Executive and to department and committee chairpersons in carrying out their responsibilities. Serve in an advisory and communication role to the Chief Executive on medical-administrative matters. Provide leadership to the clinical quality enhancement function of the Hospital and assist appropriate Hospital and Medical Staff departments and committees in maintaining and improving the quality of medical programs. Facilitate communication and coordination of the Hospital’s professional departments and their respective medical directors to improve patient care activities. Be attentive to the needs and requests of the Medical Staff and facilitate the Hospital’s response. Facilitate cooperation and communication of the Medical Staff departments and the nursing division. Continuously search for opportunities to improve clinical integration within PSJMC and Health System entities. Lead Quality initiatives to improve the quality of our providers. Report to and receive formal authority from the Chief Executive. Report monthly to the Medical Executive Committee on matters of interest to the Medical Staff and issues related to their job responsibilities. Serve as an ex-officio non-voting member of the Medical Executive Committee, Quality Improvement and Credentials committees, and other appropriate committees. Qualifications
