UNM Neurology seeks a Neurodevelopmental Disabilities specialist to join our Child Neurology team
to improve care for children and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities. The role includes clinical care at UNM Hospital, leadership as Director of Continuum of Care, and collaboration with UNM Pediatrics. Clinical Responsibilities
Outpatient management of adults and children with neurodevelopmental disabilities Participation in rural outreach clinics Additional clinical opportunities based on interests and qualifications: inpatient coverage, general and specialty clinics, EEG coverage, participation in multidisciplinary clinics (e.g., cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder) Non-clinical Responsibilities
Administration of clinical programs at the Continuum of Care clinic Long-term planning and participation in state committees Building multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and access Recruitment of additional NDD faculty Establishing groundwork for a future NDD fellowship Collaborating on statewide education efforts Serving as PI on the state grant funding the Continuum of Care program Academic Responsibilities
Participation in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Research Responsibilities
Collaboration with researchers internally and externally, with opportunities for pilot funding to develop independent research. About Albuquerque, NM
Albuquerque is a vibrant city with the Sandia Mountains to the east and mesas to the west. It offers a high desert environment with four seasons, ideal for outdoor activities year-round. Located nearby are Santa Fe and Taos, known for their art and culture. The state is diverse, with indigenous pueblos, Navajo and Apache lands, excellent cuisine, and numerous cultural and natural attractions. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: MD Degree or equivalent Board certified/eligible in Neurology or Neurology with special qualification in Child Neurology Eligible for Medical license in New Mexico and to work in the U.S. Preferred Requirements: Board certified/eligible in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) 2-3 years of clinical experience in NDD Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and working with diverse communities Application Instructions
