Position: Physician Assistant - Surgical Hospitalist Talent Area: Advanced Practice Providers Full/Part Time: Full time Location: Houston, TX, US Department: Surgical Hospitalists-P Shift: 7a-7p and 7p-7a Job ID: 418839 We are searching for a Physician Assistant motivated to work in an exciting pediatric setting! This role involves practicing in an advanced capacity to provide developmentally and age-appropriate health maintenance for well children, episodic care for ill children, and comprehensive care for children with chronic conditions. The PA will work under a delineation of clinical privileges, collaborating with the healthcare team, following established guidelines and protocols. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and procedures, all tailored to the developmental stages of the patients. The PA also engages in education, research, consultation, and clinical practice evaluation across various levels. The team provides inpatient rounding, emergency consults, and wound care 24/7 for various surgical subspecialties, including plastics, orthopedics, urology, otolaryngology, and general surgery, often performing bedside procedures independently. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required Physician Assistant Certification by the Texas Medical Board Pediatric or surgical experience preferred Responsibilities: Utilize advanced practice skills to assess and manage patient caseloads Administer or delegate medication administration Order and interpret diagnostic tests Demonstrate effective communication and work to eliminate barriers Provide comprehensive healthcare services including health promotion, disease prevention, counseling, and management Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, and colleagues Apply new clinical knowledge relevant to the patient population Maintain current professional and technical skills Participate annually in departmental Quality Improvement programs Undergo respiratory fit testing as part of workplace safety protocols About Texas Children’s Since 1954, Texas Children’s has led in patient care, education, and research to advance healthcare for children and women worldwide.
