UMass Memorial Health, in partnership with UMass Chan Medical School, seeks an Academic Epileptologist for a clinician or clinician-scientist track. The candidate will join an active epilepsy team providing inpatient and outpatient services and collaborate with neurosurgical experts in epilepsy treatments. Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree. Fellowship training in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology, including continuous video-EEG monitoring in inpatient settings (ICU and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit), is required. Experience with intracranial EEG monitoring is preferred. The UMass Memorial Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is an NAEC Level 4 institution, offering: Stereotactic placement of depth electrodes (stereo-EEG) Resective and disconnective epilepsy surgeries Responsive nerve stimulator (RNS) placement Vagus nerve stimulator placement Neuropsychiatry services Deep brain stimulator (DBS) placement Intraoperative monitoring (in development) Primary clinical responsibilities include: Inpatient video-EEG monitoring Attending on the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit Outpatient routine and ambulatory EEG Managing epilepsy patients in the clinic (note: sessions may be canceled during inpatient service weeks, EEG services, vacations, or conferences) Additional opportunities include: Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including epileptologists, APPs, social workers, neurosurgeons, neuropsychiatrists, psychologists, and neuroradiologists Teaching neurology residents and medical students at UMass Medical School Participating in faculty development and research mentorship programs Focusing on clinical epilepsy, education, or research, based on career interests This faculty position offers professional growth, promotion opportunities, and membership in the medical staff at UMass Memorial Medical Center, a large integrated health system.
