Department Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is integral to the healthcare, education, and research missions at OHSU. We provide clinical services at OHSU hospitals and collaborate with the VA Portland Health Care System and Hillsboro Medical Center. We specialize in providing excellent perioperative care and anesthesia services to our patients using state-of-the-art technology and pharmacologic tools with an emphasis on patient safety. Our anesthesiologists work in care teams with fellows, residents, and nurse anesthetists as well as independently. Post-operative care is under the medical supervision of our department. We play a prominent role in caring for patients in the cardiovascular, neurosciences, and newly-launched virtual intensive care units. Function/Duties of Position

Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine (APOM) is seeking a board certified or board eligible pediatric anesthesiologist. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. The candidate will have demonstrated competence in patient care and teaching/mentorship. An interest/experience in research/scholarship/discovery and/or administrative leadership is desired. The appointee will teach trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise through assigned lectures and by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, and guiding learning through graduated levels of responsibility. Assistant Professors must demonstrate competence in teaching and be knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies (e.g., ACGME competencies for clinical faculty). The appointee will provide an outstanding level of professional performance compliant with the regulations and guidelines of relevant regulating bodies (e.g., the American Society of Anesthesiologists, JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, OHSU IRB, NIH, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines). All patients, research subjects, trainees, and co-workers must be treated with dignity and respect. The appointee may maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. They may develop and direct scholarly research activities focused on improving the educational foundation within anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. The appointee may also engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair and may participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair or supervising Vice Chair. Required Qualifications

Doctorate in medicine, residency training in Anesthesiology, and fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology. Demonstrated competence in patient care and teaching. Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology. Preferred Qualifications

Interest and expertise in research/scholarship/discovery. All are welcome
