About the Job

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences seeks a full-time, board-certified Ophthalmologist with fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery. Responsibilities include providing ophthalmological care and clinical services to patients with various eye conditions, supporting research and education within the healthcare system. Specific duties encompass: Providing outpatient and inpatient consultations Conducting eye examinations Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, including in inpatient, outpatient, and classroom settings Engaging in clinical and translational research and quality improvement projects Performing eye surgeries, treatments, and therapies Completing administrative duties within the division, department, and hospital Qualifications

Applicants must have an M.D. or foreign equivalent, graduate from an accredited ACGME Ophthalmology residency, and complete a one-year fellowship in Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery. Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology is required. Candidates must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in Minnesota, maintain DEA certification, and meet credentialing requirements. Interest or experience in research and scholarly activities is preferred. The hire rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) will depend on qualifications. About the Department

Pay and Benefits

The position is a dual employment with the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians, with a salary starting at $52,000 and total compensation ranging from $300,000 to $370,000.
