Overview
POSITION: Director of Training REPORTS TO: VP of Operations
COMPENSATION: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental insurance. Bonus potential available. Hours and shifts may vary based on the needs of new openings and in-store support.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Training plays a critical hands-on role in driving operational excellence, employee development, and consistent brand standards across multiple restaurant locations. This role focuses on building strong training cultures in the field through direct engagement with restaurant leadership, hands-on coaching, and the execution of training strategies that support business growth. This role plays a critical part in cultivating a skilled, customer-focused team that drives guest satisfaction and business success.
Responsibilities Training Implementation & Execution
Deliver and oversee in-store training programs for front-of-house, back-of-house, and management teams.
Conduct new restaurant openings and support training rollouts in new markets.
Coach General Managers and Service Managers on best practices for effective training delivery and performance follow-up.
Lead “train-the-trainer” sessions to strengthen in-location training capabilities.
Work with culinary institutes, hospitality organizations, and compliance training providers to enhance internal programs with specialized certifications and professional development opportunities.
Oversee engaging training content for all levels of restaurant staff—including front-of-house, back-of-house, and management—using a variety of formats such as manuals, hands-on sessions, e-learning modules, and instructional videos.
Develop and execute training strategies that align with company goals and address the evolving needs of restaurant operations, service excellence, compliance, and workforce development.
Field Support & Coaching
Spend the majority of time in restaurants working directly with teams as well as administrative office duties.
Conduct live, in-location training audits and follow-ups to ensure brand and service consistency.
Act as a mentor and development partner for high-potential team members in the field.
Collaborate with Area Directors and VP of Operations to align training with operational goals.
Create Monthly Calendars on training classes and initiatives.
Work with outside vendors to create quarterly calendars for F&B continued education.
Provide feedback from the field to improve training content and delivery methods.
Assist in the development of new materials including SOPs, training guides, job aids, and e-learning content.
Help evolve the training curriculum based on operational changes, guest feedback, and business initiatives.
Support leadership development pipelines by preparing team members for promotions and leadership roles.
Identify training gaps and recommend personalized development plans for underperforming locations or individuals.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure all training aligns with safety, compliance, and brand standards.
Conduct periodic reviews of training records, certifications, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Job Requirements Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in restaurant operations and training.
Proven ability to lead training initiatives in the field, preferably in a fast-paced or growing restaurant brand.
Strong coaching, facilitation, and communication skills.
Able to build rapport and influence at all levels—from hourly team members to executives.
Working knowledge of restaurant operations, including POS, safety, and labor standards.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS).
Willing and able to travel frequently (up to 75%).
