Overview
Critical Care Nurse Practitioner - Part time at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. This position provides direct patient care relative to physical diagnosis and therapeutic management for high acuity patients in the ICU setting, with primary focus in the Neuro ICU and cross coverage within the Medical ICU. Responsibilities
Performs history and physical examinations, formulates care plans, orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests, and provides education to patients and their families. Documents clinical encounters clearly, precisely and in a timely manner. Coordinates the care of patients to provide safe, effective, efficient and timely patient-centered care. Liaises between visiting nurses, clinical staff and consult services. Develops and executes care plans that encompass the entire service. Consults with physicians or surgeons regarding more complex diagnoses. Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation, formal and informal education, literature review and participation in seminars and conferences. Works in a collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine health needs of patients and families. Demonstrates an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Required Qualifications
Master\'s degree in Nursing required. Nurse Practitioner License required, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. 0-1 years related work experience required. MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN (NRSG). Valid prescriptive authority from MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA. American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate. Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access). Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise. Competencies

Problem Solving: Ability to address highly varied and complex problems requiring input, innovation and diagnostic techniques. Independence of Action: Ability to set goals and determine how to accomplish defined results with some guidance. Oral Communications: Ability to convey complex verbal information to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers. Knowledge: Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies. Team Work: Leads collaborative teams across functional areas with implications for multiple departments. Customer Service: Provides a high level of customer service and staff training; resolves service issues promptly and respectfully. Ages Served

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Requires standing and movement throughout the majority of shift.
