MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Senior Medical Director of Addiction Services. The successful candidate will be BC/BE in Addiction Medicine, and administrative, leadership and research experience is desired.

MHBH is developing a comprehensive system-wide substance use disorder services, including services for opiate and alcohol addictions, for individuals in the region. This initiative supports MaineHealth's integrated behavioral health service line and aims to be a regional and national model for treating people with serious mental health issues. MHBH has 30-plus clinical programs and nearly 30 service locations.

The Senior Medical Director is responsible for the oversight and development of a Substance Use Disorders Service for MHBH and the Behavioral Health Service Line for MaineHealth. Responsibilities include development and oversight of clinical programs and practices, academic programs including graduate and undergraduate medical education (GME, UME) programs, research, and quality improvement efforts.

MHBH is Northern New England's leading integrated behavioral healthcare system, serving southern, western, central, and Mid-Coast Maine. It includes a nonprofit psychiatric hospital, outpatient treatment, crisis services, Crisis Stabilization units, and several ACT teams.

Minimum Qualifications

MD/DO from an accredited medical school.

Board Certified/Board Eligible in Addiction Medicine.

This position offers

The enhancement of education programs will include an Addiction Medicine Fellowship residing at MHMMC, and potential learning opportunities for residents from several MHMMC GME programs, including Psychiatry, Medicine, Family Practice, and Emergency Medicine, and medical students from the Tufts University School of Medicine program.

The Medical Director will develop an addiction research program in partnership with the Center for Psychiatric Research.
