Vetco, a division of Petco, The Health + Wellness Company, is seeking relief veterinarians as independent contractors. This role focuses on delivering high-quality veterinary care within Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care Hospitals, supporting community access to veterinary services.

Continue practice activities outside of Vetco shifts with no agency fees. Our appointment-based model helps manage traffic and supports you in delivering the best care and patient experience possible. Vetco operates wellness clinics inside Petco retail locations and Vetco Total Care Hospitals. You will work with trained staff to manage operations so you can focus on patient care. A monthly newsletter provides policy and product updates and clinic news. A 15% Petco discount is available for pets on products and services. Responsibilities
Provide care within Vetco Vaccination Clinics (wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations and medications, heartworm testing, microchip insertion). No surgeries, emergencies, or sick visits in this setting. Provide care within Vetco Total Care Hospitals (preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures). Partner with the area medical director before shifts to review the comfort level of cases. Operate within an appointment-based model to manage patient flow and minimize wait times. Utilize on-site resources such as digital patient records, diagnostic equipment, and on-site labs as applicable. Work with trained staff to manage transactions and safety practices, including safe pet handling and restraint when needed. Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine license in good standing (state-specific licensing required to perform shift functions, including blood draws and vaccines). DEA license in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts. Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance plus license defense policy. Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates. Other details: Vetco Total Care hospitals and Vetco Clinics provide access to high-quality veterinary care in 48 states, with new locations opening soon. California state bid rates average $136.00–$170.00 per hour; shift rates vary by clinic location and shift duration.
