The Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics at Albany Medical College is seeking a
Division Chief
to lead and oversee the strategic administrative, clinical, research, and educational activities of the division. This dual role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth in a reputable medical genetics program at Albany Medical College. The selected candidate will collaborate with other specialties within the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Ob/Gyn-Maternal Fetal Medicine to deliver comprehensive care to patients and contribute to cutting-edge research initiatives. As the Division Chief, responsibilities include providing leadership, setting strategic goals, and fostering a collaborative environment within the division. The Clinical Geneticist will be responsible for diagnosing and managing genetic conditions, providing genetic counseling, and participating in clinical research projects. The position requires a commitment to excellence in patient care, education of medical students and residents, as well as active participation in scholarly activities and research endeavors. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for advancing medical genetics, and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. This role offers a unique platform to shape the future of medical genetics practice and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field. The Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics is currently comprised of current division chief, a clinical geneticist/cytogeneticist (who will continue working hybrid), and our Medical Genetics Faculty, including a Medical Biochemical Geneticist (Metabolic Disorders), four Genetic Counselors, a Genetic NP, a Genetic PA, a Genetic RN, and a Metabolic Disorders Dietician. We are currently accepting applications for an additional
BE/BC Clinical Geneticist
as well. MD or DO degree Board certification in Medical Genetics or eligibility Eligibility for medical licensure in New York State Strong leadership and communication skills Commitment to excellence in patient care and education Experience in clinical research preferred
