The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of
Survey Analyst, Public Opinion Research
in the
Analytics Division
of the Technology department of the ACLU’s National office in
New York, NY or Washington, DC . This is a
hybrid role
with in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month. The ACLU Technology Department provides analytics, engineering, product design and management expertise to advance the ACLU mission. The Analytics team partners with colleagues across the organization to enable evidence-based decision making, including social science research for litigation and advocacy, data infrastructure work, and reporting for fundraising and engagement. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit and is represented by ACLU Staff United (ASU). WHAT YOU'LL DO
Reporting to the
Associate Director, Public Opinion Research , the
Survey Analyst
will focus on qualitative and quantitative public opinion research projects to inform fundraising, advocacy, communications and supporter engagement. Responsibilities may include survey design, data analysis, stakeholder communication and presentation. YOUR DAY TO DAY
You will be part of the Engagement Analytics team and work with colleagues across the Technology team as well as stakeholders in Fundraising, Digital, Political Advocacy, Legal and Communications. Below is a sampling of projects you can expect to dive into: Perform quantitative and statistical analysis of public opinion survey data Prepare graphs, tables, and visual presentations for written reports and internal/public use Design questionnaires, program survey instruments, and write summary reports Design and build dashboards using survey data to guide decision making and improve engagement with the ACLU Compile, analyze and interpret public and syndicated polling data Collaborate with Communications, Digital, Political Advocacy and other departments to track public attitudes related to ACLU activities Stay up-to-date on industry best practices through professional groups, conferences and webinars FUTURE ACLU'ERS WILL

Familiarity with scoping opinion research projects and managing day-to-day needs Strong quantitative, data analysis and problem-solving skills Experience visualizing survey data using BI software (e.g., Tableau) Understanding of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods Knowledge of opinion research and evidence-based messaging for ACLU issue areas Strong written and verbal communication; ability to synthesize results for nontechnical stakeholders PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / AREAS YOU WILL GROW IN
Experience with SPSS, Stata, R or similar Experience with advanced survey techniques (e.g., MrP, MaxDiff, conjoint) Experience running end-to-end opinion research projects COMPENSATION
The ACLU values equity and transparency in pay. The annual salary for this position is
$95,666
(Level I), based on location in New York, NY. Salaries may be adjusted for geographic location if working outside listed locations.
