Physician-Academic Psychiatrist role at Renown Health. Responsibilities
Provide clinical care directly or through supervision of residents/fellows in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Deliver clinical care and supervision within the clinician's scope of practice and licensure, which may include children, adolescents, or adults. Evaluate patients and deliver psychiatric services (therapy, somatic, and psychosocial interventions) to individuals, couples, families, and groups within regulatory and accrediting guidelines. Provide clinical teaching, didactic teaching, and administrative duties as defined by the role. Lead or participate in the educational mission by supervising medical students, residents, and fellows; contribute to program administration and committee activities. The role includes responsibilities as UNR Med Core Faculty in leadership of medical education and program administration to support continuous program improvement, working with departmental leadership on organization, implementation, and supervision of essential training experiences. Duties include clinical supervision, didactic teaching, and committee participation. Faculty members teach medical students, residents, and fellows, serve as role models for professionalism and lifelong learning, and contribute to a learning environment that supports high-quality patient care. Overall responsibilities include creating a professional learning environment, addressing the needs of patients, residents, community, and institution, and upholding professional standards. Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules. Ability to operate in line with quality and business practices as outlined by accrediting bodies (e.g., The Joint Commission, NCQA, MGMA). Effective leadership skills and ability to lead by example. Ability to obtain results with minimal disruption while coordinating with internal and external groups. Ability to work independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and ability to complete online learning requirements and access online forms and policies. Ability to credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or payer credentialing as applicable. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree; working-level knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking). Experience: Prior experience in the referenced specialty (preferred). Licenses: Current and valid Nevada MD or DO license; Nevada Controlled Substance License to Prescribe and DEA registration. Certifications: Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in General Psychiatry (ABPN) and Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ABPN). If board-eligible at hire, certifications must be obtained within two years. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. AHA certification preferred; other recognized equivalents acceptable. Computer/Metrics: Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to use online learning systems and credentialing portals. Other: Ability to credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing as applicable.
