Attending Psychiatrist - Addiction Services (Substance Use Disorder Program)
at
NYC Health + Hospitals System / South Brooklyn Health . South Brooklyn Health features the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital, offering emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and surgical services. The campus also includes the Health & Wellness Institute, providing outpatient services for primary, preventive, and specialty care, with a high volume of patient visits and admissions. The hospital maintains academic affiliations with
SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University
and
NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine , providing teaching and research opportunities, including working closely with medical students, residents, and fellows. The behavioral health center offers inpatient and outpatient behavioral health treatments. Responsibilities
Provide clinical care for patients in outpatient addiction clinics and opioid treatment programs. Conduct psychiatric and substance use history assessments. Diagnose substance use and non-substance related addiction disorders and recommend appropriate treatments. Identify related mental health and medical conditions. Order and manage medications for addiction and co-occurring disorders. Administer medications following policies and regulations. Provide overdose education, naloxone training, and harm reduction resources. Review lab results and medical data promptly. Follow-up, coordinate care, and refer patients as needed. Establish rapport with patients using motivational interviewing techniques. Maintain confidentiality and respect patient rights. Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team. Set treatment goals, monitor progress, and review treatment levels. Contribute to treatment planning and utilization reviews. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and grand rounds. Ensure a safe, quality care environment following policies. Assess emergencies, including suicide risk, and take appropriate actions. Participate in medical and behavioral emergency codes. Complete incident reports and participate in investigations. Teach and train medical students, residents, and fellows. Assist with staff orientation and adhere to clinical standards. Support quality assurance and process improvement initiatives. Provide coverage for other physicians as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by Medical Directors. Additional Details
