East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, is a nationally recognized leader in Family Medicine education. The Geriatrics Division aims to prepare learners at all levels of professional care for the challenges of caring for older patients. The division works with a variety of sites and programs to provide comprehensive primary care services, teaching, and collaboration in geriatrics. We work with community sites to accomplish our mission through dedicated teaching and patient care time, training of residents, fellows, and medical students, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality geriatric care. Job Duties
Seeking a BC/BE Family Physician or Internal Medicine Physician with additional qualifications in Geriatrics for a fixed-term or tenure-track faculty position at the rank/title of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher. Strong emphasis on teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervision of residents, fellows, medical students, and other learners in Geriatrics. Opportunities exist to develop administrative, leadership, and scholarship skills. Clinical responsibilities include an ambulatory geriatric clinic, the Family Medicine Center, ECU Health Medical Center, and one continuing care retirement community with skilled care beds. The teaching hospital affiliated with ECU Brody School of Medicine is ECU Health Medical Center, serving Eastern and Coastal North Carolina. There are opportunities available for outpatient full-time clinical care service only.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) with matching employer contributions, and eligibility to participate in various voluntary supplemental retirement plans. This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). It also offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance and other supplemental plans. Minimum Education/Experience
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (American Board of Medical Specialties). NC Medical License or license eligible. Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Geriatrics or CAQ Eligible. Collaborative relationship-building and maintenance skills, refined analytical and critical thinking, and strong written and verbal communication skills. MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution and conferred by the time of hire, or completed foreign medical education recognized for ECFMG Certification. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
