Overview
We’re looking for a
Safety Critical Software Engineer – Lead
to join our high-impact engineering team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of the design, development, and delivery of safety-critical software systems. You’ll lead projects through the full lifecycle, drive compliance with industry safety standards, and serve as a technical authority across teams. What You’ll Do
Lead the development of safety-critical software applications from concept to deployment. Use modeling tools (Simulink, SCADE) for software design and generate efficient C/C++ implementations. Create and manage Level of Rigor artifacts to ensure compliance with safety standards. Partner with systems, testing, and development teams to validate and integrate safety features. Contribute to design reviews, compliance audits, and serve as a subject matter expert in safety-critical processes. Required Skills / Tools
Safety-critical software development and systems safety experience (embedded/high-integrity systems) Model-based design and tool-based modeling: Simulink, SCADE Programming languages: C, C++ Experience producing compliance documentation and certification artifacts tied to safety standards Level of Rigor / safety artifacts creation and management Knowledge of safety standards and processes: ISO 26262, MIL-STD-882E, ASIL-D (or equivalent high-integrity safety frameworks) Software integration, validation, and testing collaboration with systems and test teams Conducting design reviews, compliance audits, and serving as a subject matter expert in safety-critical processes Familiarity with code generation and verification toolchains for model-to-code workflows What We’re Looking For
5+ years of experience in safety-critical or systems safety software engineering Strong background in safety-critical development and tool-based modeling (Simulink, SCADE) Proven experience producing compliance documentation and artifacts tied to certification standards Skilled at collaborating across engineering functions to deliver safety-focused solutions Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with ISO 26262 automotive safety standard Understanding of MIL-STD-882E safety processes Experience developing in ASIL-D environments or equivalent high-integrity systems Salary & Location
Base pay range: $150,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr Washington, DC (Hybrid, 3 days on-site) Employment Details
Full-Time Mid-Senior Level Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents only Relocation assistance available Why Join Us?
