JOB DESCRIPTION JOB SUMMARY The position is located in the heart of Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC). BUMC is consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals in the US by US News and World Report. It is a 1,000-bed Level 1 trauma facility offering advanced cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, transplant surgery (including bone marrow, kidney, liver, heart, lung, and more), and excellent medical subspecialty support. BUMC is affiliated with Texas A&M's School of Medicine, providing teaching opportunities. It is also home to the T. Boone Pickens Cancer Center, the #1 inpatient cancer center in North Texas. The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with a wide range of conditions, takes patient histories, requests diagnostic tests, makes diagnoses, prescribes treatments, administers vaccinations, performs follow-up examinations, and educates patients in disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN will supervise the clinical activities of allied health professionals and advanced practice professionals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Examine, collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results. Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. Order, perform, and interpret tests; analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose the patient's condition. Work as part of a clinical team of technicians, advanced practice professionals, and other physicians in decision-making around tests, diagnoses, and treatment options for patients with illnesses or diseases. Monitor patient conditions and progress; reevaluate treatments as necessary. Specialty Diagnoses and treats conditions in the area of specialty. May work in hospitals, specialty clinics, or outpatient surgical centers. May perform surgical, treatment, or non-invasive procedures in the area of specialty. May create post-operative care plans and recommend lifestyle changes involving diet, exercise, and other factors. Supervise the clinical activities of a care team that may include other providers and allied health professionals. Workload mainly consists of inpatient consultations with supervision of experienced psychiatric NPs and a flexible call rotation. Must be BC/BE in Psychiatry with an interest in psychosomatic medicine. Consultation-Liaison Fellowship is preferred but not required. Guaranteed competitive salary. Full-time employed position with Health Texas Provider Network (HTPN). Faculty appointment with Texas A&M School of Medicine is available, along with teaching opportunities with over 300 residents and fellows in various specialties.
