JOB FUNCTIONS:
Patient Triage:
Screening and assessment of patient care problems/issues via telephone or in-office. This includes communication with patients, medical facilities, offices, referring physicians, etc. Identifies and evaluates patient and family needs, abilities, and readiness to learn, providing education and instructions as needed via telephone or during scheduled appointments. Cross-training:
For routine, nuclear stress testing, stress echoes, and echoes with contrast. Blood Pressure Checks:
As ordered by the cardiologist. Anticoagulation Management:
Dosing, medication orders/refills, Lovenox management, patient education, and related functions. Scheduling and Related Functions:
TEE, cardioversion, and other procedures. Lab Work:
Ordering labs and reviewing results. Clinical Support:
Serving as a resource for the cardiology team, assisting with patient care emergencies, IV access, and medication administration. Additional Duties:
As designated by the Office Manager. Quality Improvement:
Participating in QI projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of a Diploma or BSN Nursing program; minimum of 2 years of critical care, cardiac experience, or previous triage/emergency department experience preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION and TRAINING/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: New Jersey Nursing License; BLS/ACLS certification; proficiency with IV access; knowledge of basic and advanced arrhythmias; strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and current medications; excellent communication skills.
