Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment requirements under previous standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible) Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited school Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include those by ACGME, AOA, or other recognized programs with verified practice experience in the U.S. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA residencies are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis Proficiency in spoken and written English Board Certified or Board Eligible Physical requirements in accordance with VA Directive and Handbook 5019 Duties
Provide general dermatology consultation and services at the Syracuse VA Medical Center and SUNY Upstate Medical University, with potential academic appointment Supervise and educate residents and fellows in dermatology Develop and participate in a tele-dermatology program accessible across VISN-2 Collaborate with hospital staff and other providers Engage in research, quality improvement, and teaching activities Provide inpatient and outpatient dermatology consultations and procedures Maintain board certification and CME requirements Serve on peer review and other committees as assigned Complete medical records timely and participate in process improvements Attend staff meetings and promote evidence-based practices and a collegial environment Oversee care rendered by physician extenders Additional Information
