The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks a board-certified or board-eligible pediatric pulmonologist to fill a full-time position as Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Director in the Department of Pediatrics' Pulmonology/Sleep Division. The CF center is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is the largest in central Illinois, with robust research and ongoing quality improvement (QI) projects to provide excellent clinical care. There are opportunities to practice pediatric sleep medicine or collaborate with multidisciplinary clinics. The center offers a schedule designed for good work–life balance while fulfilling clinical responsibilities. The benefits package is competitive.
Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities for the Cystic Fibrosis Medical Director portion of the position:
Provide care, diagnostic and treatment services to children with cystic fibrosis and other pulmonary conditions, including flexible bronchoscopy and interpretation of pulmonary function testing when clinically indicated.
Contribute to educational programs and activities for medical students and residents related to CF and pediatric pulmonology.
Collaborate with the Adult CF Medical Director and Division Head of Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine.
Attend annual CF conference.
Uphold requirements for CF center accreditation.
Interact with nursing and other non-physician staff leadership to develop interdisciplinary plans to improve clinic function.
Develop, revise and implement a strategic plan addressing long-term teaching and patient care needs of the clinic.
Reinforce performance expectations of Residents and Attendings.
Develop and implement evaluations of Residents and Attendings.
Provide administrative/fiscal management for the clinic (budget management, formulary review, stakeholder meetings).
Design and implement quality improvement initiatives to improve clinic function and clinical care.
Responsibilities for the Faculty portion of the position:
Provide care, diagnostic and treatment services to children with CF and other pulmonary conditions, including flexible bronchoscopy and interpretation of pulmonary function testing when clinically indicated.
Contribute to educational programs and activities for medical students and residents related to CF and pediatric pulmonology.
Be an active part of the existing pulmonary team.
Engage in clinical, educational and scholarly activities.
Provide care for children with pulmonary conditions and contribute to educational programs for students and residents.
Maintain a spirit of inquiry and scholarship within the pulmonology service.
Rotate WEEKEND pediatric pulmonary calls with other APNs and physicians.
Minimum Qualifications
MD, DO, or equivalent degree
Eligible for medical licensure in Illinois
Board certified in Pediatrics
Board certified in Pediatric Pulmonology
3 years Pediatric Residency/3 years Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership experience preferred
Pediatric sleep medicine experience preferred
