The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery, is recruiting a board-certified or board-eligible, Open Rank, Open Track faculty member for provision of pediatric neurosurgery care. This individual will join the established pediatric neurosurgeon currently practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents at the University of New Mexico. The University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral neurosurgical center in the state, serving a population of approximately 2.3 million. There is significant need and opportunity to grow and expand an established practice focused on pediatric patients. The department maintains a comprehensive practice across pediatric and adult neurosurgery, with a recently re-established ACGME-approved residency in 2022. UNM is also the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, and participation in the general trauma call pool will be expected. Provide pediatric neurosurgery care in collaboration with the established pediatric neurosurgeon and in support of resident education. Participate in teaching and supervision of neurosurgery residents. Contribute to a department with a focus on a diverse range of neurological disorders in both pediatric and adult patients. Engage in participation in the trauma service as part of the Level 1 trauma center. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications MD, DO, or equivalent degree Completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric neurosurgery fellowship ABNS Board Certification in Neurological Surgery and Board Certification or ABPNS Board Eligibility in Pediatric Neurosurgery Preferred Qualifications Academic neurosurgery practice with a minimum of one year as fellow or attending surgeon, with experience teaching residents and students Teaching experience with lectures and presentations Scholarly activity with publications, clinical/translational research, and/or independent research funding Commitment to community and to understanding the diverse cultures of New Mexico; dedication to the university mission to serve local and global communities Application Instructions
