Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the original appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency training approved by the VA or equivalent, leading to board eligibility or certification. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not be privileged; they have a scope of practice under supervision. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Board eligible or certified in Psychiatry. Physical requirements as per VA Directive and Handbook 5019. Duties
Provide comprehensive mental health care, including primary mental health and outpatient services. Participate in the Education Debt Reduction Program, with application submitted within four months of start date. Work collaboratively with a team of mental health professionals at the White River Junction VA Medical Center and affiliated clinics. Engage in outpatient clinical care, on-call duties, and possibly academic appointments. Work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with potential for compressed hours and telework options.
