Overview

Senior Geologist required for a large contractor with an exceptional reputation in ground engineering. Our client has over 2,000 colleagues across divisions delivering world-class services. They provide an unrivalled range of testing, inspection, and certification services throughout the UK. Due to an increase in workload we are seeking an Engineering Geologist for the Coventry office. The Geotechnical team focuses on understanding site conditions for UK construction projects, conducting field testing and sampling above and below ground to identify conditions that impact construction. Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, join an experienced GI Operations team and deliver ground investigation and geotechnical services to clients across the UK, across sectors including major infrastructure for highways and rail, nuclear, new build, onshore and offshore energy and environmental. Be confident and knowledgeable in ground investigation techniques. Prepare Health & Safety documentation prior to and during site works, and assist in managing H&S of operatives and promoting a safe working environment. Plan, supervise and program Ground Investigation projects at locations throughout the United Kingdom. Log soil and rock in accordance with the specification BS5930:2015+A1:2020. Maintain accurate field records of tasks performed. Act as a Site Agent or in a supporting role, supervising multiple activities and staff for short and longer term projects. Perform in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with the specification and current technical standards. Liaise with Clients / Engineers / Main Contractors throughout the site works phase. Manage and collate site data using company software systems. Assist in the compilation of monthly financial project accounts. Write factual reports and carry out work in accordance with company Health and Safety rules. Maintain a minimum level of fitness required to undertake site-based tasks on varied sites, including active construction sites and linear projects for roads and railways. Qualifications / Experience

Experience and proficiency in ground investigation techniques and reporting. Knowledge of logging soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020. Ability to prepare and manage Health & Safety documentation for site works. Ability to plan, supervise and program GI projects and liaise with clients and contractors. Strong written reporting skills and field data management. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good management skills. Fitness to undertake site-based activities on various sites including roads and rail projects. Benefits
