Join Our Team as a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant at Yale New Haven Health
Yale New Haven Health is expanding its neurosurgery services to include 24/7 Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coverage. We are seeking motivated and skilled Physician Assistants to join our neurosurgery team. This role offers a rotating schedule of four 10-hour shifts or three 13-hour shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, to support continuous patient care. Key Responsibilities
Provide post-operative care for neurosurgical patients with brain, spine, and stroke-related conditions Perform daily rounds and manage post-operative care Prepare and complete discharge summaries Assist in managing patients with external ventricular drains (EVDs) Evaluate and manage neurosurgery consults, including case presentations and acting as liaison between neurosurgery and other services Respond to trauma patients with critical neurosurgical injuries in collaboration with trauma and emergency teams Perform bedside procedures such as removal of neurosurgical drains and assistance with EVD placement Preferred Qualifications
Experience in neurosurgery, critical care, trauma, or surgical subspecialties is preferred Proficiency in high-acuity patient management and multidisciplinary coordination Strong communication and critical thinking skills Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends Qualifications
Education
Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program. Experience
Clinical experience in neurosurgery or related fields is preferred but not required. All candidates must be credentialed through the hospital's medical staff process. Licensure
Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, and relevant certifications such as ACLS/BLS. Additional certifications may be required based on the specific position. Additional Information
