ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE The Endodontist (dental specialist) delivers endodontic services to patients to support NHC's mission and vision. This role performs endodontic procedures and services based on in-house dental assessments and plans, diagnoses and treats complex causes of tooth pain, and provides health education, post-surgery guidance, and appropriate pain-relief prescriptions as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES Direct Patient Care

Conducts, develops, and/or confirms individualized in-house endodontic diagnoses and care plans based on dental conditions Reviews patients' medical history and discusses symptoms and concerns Utilizes dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of oral pain Provides endodontic dental care/services in compliance with standards of care Performs nonsurgical root canal treatment to treat damaged, infected, or calcified tooth pulp and/or canals Performs apicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infection around the tooth apex Maintains teeth that have undergone root canal procedures (retreatments) Performs procedures within the approved skills profile and scope of practice Observes, assesses, and records patients' symptoms, reactions, and treatment progress Prescribes medications and provides relevant medication instructions Accepts additional patients into the schedule as feasible Accommodates urgent dental needs, including walk-ins Maintains a professional appearance Team Support

Leads dental assistants, hygienists, and other staff to ensure smooth patient care and treatment coordination Facilitates prescription refills and paperwork with the dental team Provides dental backup to NHC dental sites and clinicians as needed Provides supervision, consultations, and instruction to Dental Assistants and other team members as needed Serves as preceptor to dental and paraprofessional students placed with NHC Clinical Administration

Minimizes patient rescheduling and provides instructions as necessary Completes and submits daily billing with accurate coding and charges for services rendered Works with management to improve efficiency, patient flow, program development, and revenues Maintains credentialing, licensure, and continuing education requirements Assists management with employee evaluations for Dental PSRs or Dental Assistants as needed Participates in audits, peer reviews, patient satisfaction efforts, protocol development, meetings, and trainings as available Contributes to quality improvement activities and completes legible, legally defensible dental records Education / Experience

Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) or Dental Surgery (DDS) required Completion of a post-doctoral residency in endodontics American Board of Endodontics (ABE) certification preferred Minimum 2 years of Endodontist experience preferred Valid California dental license required Valid DEA license and current CPR/AED certification required Analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication; good hand-eye coordination; patient-friendly disposition Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required Additional Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Excellent verbal and written communication, including strong composition, typing, and proofreading Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions Knowledge of modern dentistry and oral surgery principles and terminology Experience with dental diagnoses, treatments, and prevention of dental diseases Ability to prescribe and instruct on medications as appropriate Ability to develop and implement individualized dental care plans Comfort practicing in high-volume and emergency settings Knowledge of community-based dental environments and infection control standards Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan and organize, work as part of a team and independently Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics Physical Requirements

Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs Ability to stand for long periods Compliance (Safety & HIPAA)
