The Department of Neurosurgery at Tufts Medical Center is seeking an outstanding Neurosurgeon to join our neurosurgery department and continue to expand a community spine-focused practice
at MelroseWakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA.
The applicant will join a department of 9 neurosurgeons, 10 physician assistants, 6 nurse practitioners, 11 neurosurgical residents, and an established support team.

Our neurosurgery team provides hope and healing to patients living with nervous system conditions through the development and implementation of comprehensive neurosurgical treatment plans tailored to our patients' goals, comfort, and well-being.
How You'll Transform Patient Care: Become part of a growing and comprehensive neurosurgical department that provides the highest level of neurosurgical care. Participate in an attractive call schedule shared among the entire department at Tufts Medical Center and MelroseWakefield Hospital, allowing you to maintain all of your neurosurgical skills. Utilize the latest cranial and spinal surgical techniques with access to cranial and spinal navigation as well as robotics at Tufts Medical Center. MelroseWakefield Hospital is in the process of evaluating budgeting and acquiring spinal navigation and robotics. Develop longitudinal relationships with your patients. Be a valuable member of the care team alongside physician colleagues, physician assistants, nurses, medical and administrative assistants, surgical technologists, and anesthesiologists. Grow as a physician by learning from new colleagues. Provide service and people-focused support to your patients. Practice Highlights The neurosurgery program at MelroseWakefield Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, evaluates and treats patients with cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve disorders. The administration supports and is dedicated to the growth of neurosurgery. The new hire will focus on expanding an already growing spine-focused practice at MelroseWakefield Hospital, spending 80-90% of their time there providing inpatient, outpatient, and operative care. Most procedures are elective spinal surgeries, with opportunities to handle cranial and complex spine cases at Tufts Medical Center. Currently, there are no neurosurgical residents at MelroseWakefield, but many other residencies rotate through the hospital. The candidate will participate in the shared call pool at Tufts Medical Center, an academic level 1 trauma center, to foster intra-departmental relationships and maintain cranial skills. The hospital is equipped with dedicated neurosurgical staff and advanced surgical tools, with plans to acquire spinal navigation and robotics. Academic involvement such as teaching, attending conferences, or research can be supported but is not required. The anticipated first-year volume is approximately 125 cases, increasing to over 250 as the practice develops. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Board certification or eligibility in Neurological Surgery (ABNS). A team player excited to work cooperatively across disciplines to deliver excellent patient satisfaction and support. Strong clinical focus on elective spine and general neurosurgery; Spine Fellowship is a plus but not required. Experience or a strong desire to support a community-based practice. The ability to participate in teaching and academic promotion if desired, but not mandatory. Current medical license in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain one. Work, Live, and Grow:
