Dermatology (Billings Clinic Clinic) Shift: Day Employment Status: Full-Time (0.75 or greater) Hours per Pay Period: 80 hours every two weeks (Non-Exempt) Starting Wage DOE: $21.70 - $27.12 Under the clinical supervision of the Mohs Surgeon, the Senior MOHS Technician leads the team in the delivery of patient care/treatment, performing laboratory/histology duties, and assisting with surgical procedures. Works collaboratively within the Mohs Section and the Dermatology department to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Assists in the care of the surgical patient by performing the scrub role of handling instruments, equipment and supplies. The Senior Mohs Technician has advanced knowledge and understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, maintains a sterile field and is responsible pre- and post-operatively for technical components of surgery. Essential Job Functions

Assists with orientation and training of staff and/or students and residents as applicable. This may include assisting with competency assessment, updating training materials and identifying additional education needs. (Education, Staff, Orientation & Training) Establishes training program for Mohs Tech I and Mohs Tech II personnel and candidates to ensure that they meet expectations and requirements for promotion. Trains Mohs team on established procedures for preparation of surgical specimens. In coordination with Department Leadership schedules Mohs team work assignments. Evaluates the Mohs Techs mounts on slides and stains or treats tissue with chemicals so as to reveal specific structural details under microscopic analysis. Performs histology duties to prepare material for pathologic evaluation. Coaches and mentors Mohs Techs on team Cross-Training: Leads the cross training of personnel assigned to the team. Ensures competencies of technicians. Helps to address patient concerns and complaints. Leadership: In partnership with Surgeon, leads the assigned Mohs Team. Responsible for orientation of all new staff member to the lab and the floor. Assists with responding to questions and/or assisting with problem resolution. Develops Mohs in-service training plan. Process Improvement / Quality Assurance / Risk Management: Validates logs and records. Oversees CLIA QA program. General Duties

Receives and prepares patient for examination and treatment as directed. Obtains and records history and vital signs. Charts and documents in medical record according to protocol. Collects laboratory specimens as needed. Assists physician in the care of patients/families by contributing information in order to aid in planning and evaluating patient care, with consideration for emotional, social and physical needs. Cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms, maintains inventory of clinical and office supplies, instruments, and equipment; daily decontamination and sterilization; disposal of residual surgical pathology specimens and lab chemicals. Assists physicians and non-physician providers in preparing for procedures and physical exams. Maintains sterile field and anticipates needs of the surgeon and team. Observes patients for physical and emotional reactions to medications and treatments; reports irregularities. Identifies potential complications and responds accordingly. Performs minor procedures such as stitch/staple removal, wound care, dressing changes, and phototherapy in line with policy; documents thoroughly. Reviews clerical information, labels specimens, and prepares samples for accessioning and gross evaluation. Assigns accession numbers and processes tissue as directed by the Mohs surgeon. Prepares slides and maintains laboratory materials; catalogues and files slides. Maintains laboratory solutions and reagents per procedures; changes and filters stainer chemicals as required. Records and reviews quality control data and case logs; uses quality improvement principles to enhance care. Assists with scheduling admissions, appointments, tests, treatments, procedures, and surgery. Screens calls for appropriate referrals. Provides patient education as directed. Maintains patient files and ensures HIPAA confidentiality. Supports the Mohs Team in delivering high-quality, safe patient care. Demonstrates alignment with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, and policies. Maintains competency with organizational and departmental standards related to safety and performance. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Minimum High School or GED; Preference for 2-year/Associate Degree in Histology, Medical Laboratory or other Healthcare-related field. Experience: 2-3 years of comparable experience equivalent to a Mohs Technician II. Minimum of two years experience equivalent to a Level II Mohs Technician in Billings Clinic, preferred. Experience as a lead or team lead preferred. Certifications and Licenses: LPN or Certified Dermatology Technician or Medical Assistant at hire. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees requiring licensure/certification must be in good standing.
