Overview Seeking a Gastroenterologist to care for veterans in NC!

The Salisbury VA HealthCare system is recruiting a full-time Gastroenterologist who is proficient in general GI procedures (EGD and colonoscopy) and interested in hepatology or IBD for our Kernersville Health Care Center. The position is in Kernersville, NC with the opportunity to oversee operations as a Site Director. Travel between Kernersville and Salisbury markets is negotiable, with a competitive salary and dedicated administrative time associated with the Site Director title.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive GI care with proficiency in EGD and colonoscopy.

Oversee operations as the Site Director at Kernersville, with travel to Salisbury as needed.

Collaborate within a practice environment that includes other GI physicians and support staff; participate in program development and operational oversight.

Support research opportunities where available (e.g., potential appointment at WFBH).

Practice Environment Kernersville, NC currently has 3 GI doctors, 2 surgeons who scope and clinic, and 2 Physician Assistants. The facility utilizes 190 Olympus scopes and provides anesthesia on select days to support a broad range of general GI procedures.

Research Opportunity:

Research can be explored for an appointment at WFBH. Fellows are not circulating in Kernersville currently; there are four fellows per year in Salisbury, NC.

Benefits

Salary Range:

$300,000-$400,000

Pay:

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Various flexible schedule options are available, including standard 8–10-hour workdays and compressed work schedules

Call Schedule:

There is no call at Kernersville. It is an HCC. Can take calls at Salisbury VA Medical Center one day a week.

Paid Time Off:

50-55 days of annual paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5 days CME leave)

Retirement:

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions

Insurance:

Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care

Licensure:

1 full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State or territory

CME:

Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement

Malpractice:

Free liability protection with tail coverage provided

Contract:

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.

Education:

Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.

Licensure:

Current, complete, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state/territory/DC.

Residency:

Completion of an accredited core specialty residency program.

Board Certification:

Board-certified or board-eligible; eligible for academic appointment.
