NEW Health is a federally qualified health center that has provided comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, dental, vision, pharmacy, and enabling services to the residents of Boston’s North End and Waterfront neighborhoods since 1971. NEW Health expanded services into Charlestown in 2015 with a Public Housing Primary Care site. Nurse Practitioners at NEW Health are key members of our primary care team. This position is fully onsite at our North End location. Each NP manages their own patient panel, typically 300-900 patients, and provides comprehensive care that includes chronic disease management, preventive services, and same day access for urgent needs. Located on Hanover Street in Boston’s North End, the site serves a patient population that is primarily English-speaking, ages 25 to 55, with moderate to high health literacy. The site emphasizes continuity, preventive health, and chronic disease management. Responsibilities
Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings. Perform complete histories and physical examinations. Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Develop plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. Order medications and write prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies. Provide high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries. Perform bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population. Qualifications
Education Master's Degree in Nursing required Experience 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience required Licenses and Credentials RN licensed in state; NP/APRN (state license) preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Skilled in taking medical histories, maintaining quality control, staying calm in emergencies, interpreting and applying guidelines, and communicating clearly with patients and staff.
