Location: Fairfax, VA Status: Full-Time At Virginia Heart, we are looking for an experienced Electrophysiology Advanced Practice Provider (EP APP) in collaboration with and supervision by the physicians of Virginia Heart. The APP will provide patient care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis as dictated by clinical needs. The APP will participate in clinical assessment, planning of care, and treatment of the cardiac patient. In addition, the APP will participate in research and quality assurance activities. The APP will improve the continuity of care and promote the practice of Virginia Heart. Benefits

Responsibilities

Obtains medical history and performs physical examinations Performs clinical assessments and develops treatment plans Initiates, monitors, and adjusts medications in accordance with the EP APP/APP Practice Agreement Manages patients with complex cardiovascular diseases Orders and evaluates laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests Completes medical records and billing at the end of each day Performs interrogation and appropriate reprogramming of Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) Coordinates care with rounding EP physician or office-based EP physician Provides education to patients and their family members Provides pre- and post-procedural education for patients scheduled for electrophysiologic procedures Coordinates care between other physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary providers Makes appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary providers Refers to appropriate Virginia Heart Programs: Heart Failure Program, Research Program, Sleep Program Acts as liaison for the physician in communicating with patients and family members May need to see general cardiology patients in the office and assist with weekend hospital rounding responsibilities as per practice needs Hospital Specific: Performs daily hospital rounds; coordinate daily rounding with the EP physicians between scheduled procedures. Serve as the point of contact for in-hospital EP issues. Maintain communication with the in-hospital EP physicians. Maintain hospital list, billing, and send in appropriate follow-up requests. Coordinate scheduling of inpatient EP procedures, AAD initiation and titration with both EP scheduling and EP physician team. Provide discharge education and outpatient follow up orders and practice needs Office Specific: Maintains own schedule of approximately 15 patients in a day. An EP Physician is available on site for consultation and collaboration as needed. Types of patient visits: Pre- and post-procedure visits, antiarrhythmic drug monitoring visits, urgent patient symptom calls, interrogation of CIEDs, interpretation of remote CIED transmissions, urgent add-ons/walk-ins, subcutaneous monitor consults, and all other routine Electrophysiology follow-ups. Office EP APP does not see new patients outside of subcutaneous monitor consults. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Associate Program (Master’s level of preparation preferred) NP Credentialed by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center). PA must be certified by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) BLS/CPR and ACLS certified Licensed in State of Virginia Skill Requirements

Experience in Electrophysiology preferred. Experience in Cardiology recommended– preferably as an APP International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) – recommended IBHRE Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) – recommended Attend CME in accordance with EP APP/APP manual
