The role of the

Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

ensures high quality, patient-centered care by leading clinical and quality initiatives that support the provision of consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the hospital. The CMO provides senior-level leadership to infection control, risk management, safety, and medical staff credentialing functions, ensuring collaboration and coordination among all stakeholders. The CMO analyzes quality performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and consults on issues involving physicians. The CMO also contributes to hospital strategy and service line development to ensure quality management and promote an optimal patient experience. What you will do in this role: Lead clinical performance expectations to support consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the facility, ensuring superior clinical outcomes and patient experience. Collaborate with Hospital Chief Medical Officers, Chief Executive Officers, medical staff, and Boards of Directors to improve the effectiveness of the hospital medical staff organization. Partner with medical staff and hospital management teams, facilitating teamwork and shared goals. Represent medical staff viewpoints to management and relay management viewpoints to medical staff by establishing mutually beneficial relationships between HCA leadership and community/employed physicians. Provide clinical support and consultation regarding cost-effective resource management, sharing reports and recommendations to reduce variable costs per case while maintaining clinical effectiveness. Create a data-driven environment for quality and cost improvement, developing systems to review resource utilization and objectively measure care outcomes in inpatient and outpatient settings. Serve as a liaison between HCA-affiliated physicians and facility/corporate clinical services functions. Establish and maintain a program to orient and develop management expertise for hospital medical staff leaders, providing oversight and leadership for medical education programs. Lead educational sessions and ongoing in-service programs on clinical resource management, standards, utilization, quality issues, and improvement activities, in collaboration with clinical leadership. Assemble regional physician advisory panels to provide feedback to senior management and serve as a liaison between committees and leadership, as well as to physicians.
