Position

Psychiatric RN (Healthcare) Department: Behavioral Health Urgent Care All Locations: 10 Gove Street – Taylor Building, 1601 Washington Street, 20 Maverick Square – Cradock Building

Position Summary

A Registered nurse holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, including providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort. Excellence in nursing practice includes the ability to conduct a comprehensive assessment and translate that assessment into a superior plan of care for the patient/family/care team. It includes understanding the immediate needs of the psychiatric team and long term growth goals, showing initiative, critical thinking, leadership, and effective engagement with the psychiatric team, other NeighborHealth departments and patients. Assess the health status of individuals in the BHUCS and record related health data: navigate the medical record; collect data on medical and behavioral health/symptoms from a patient. Analyze and interpret data to determine nursing care elements, correlate new data with existing records, and determine appropriate level of response from the team within guidelines. Plan and implement nursing interventions, including all elements of nurse care, prescribed regimens, and current knowledge in the field. Educate patients and families on test results, care plans, and medications; dispense medications as ordered. Provide and coordinate health teaching to maintain optimal health. Evaluate outcomes and initiate changes as needed. Collaborate with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. Serve as a patient advocate and uphold safety policies and procedures.

Navigate the medical record

Collect data on medical and behavioral health/symptoms

Correlate new data and symptoms with existing medical records

Review documentation to ensure consistency with current planned regimen

Communicate with the multidisciplinary team and educate the patient on care plans, test results, and changes in regimen

Dispense medication by mouth, nebulizer, IM, IV, and SC as ordered or per protocol

Educate on health maintenance and changes in health status

Assess and reassess patients and communicate plan of care with the health care team

Report to team members with comprehensive integration of information into the patient’s care plan

Incorporate information from other caregivers into the patient’s care plan as appropriate

Advocate for patients to support self-determination and communicate needs to other providers

Upholds safety policies, practices, and procedures including fire safety, electrical safety, proper body mechanics and safety measures.

Education and Experience

Education:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program required. BSN preferred. Experience:

Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience in a community health behavioral health, emergency and/or ambulatory care setting or psychiatric facility.

Skills/Abilities

Licensure:

Current Massachusetts RN licensure. ACLS, BLS, and PALS certification required. Psychiatric Mental Health Board Certification preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Schedule and Pay: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Hybrid option after 90 day intro period. Starting at $44.00 and up to $64.00 based on experience. SIGN ON BONUS: $10,000
