Provide direct patient care and emergency services to meet pediatric patients' health care needs. Supervise and direct all care rendered, and develop treatment protocols for patients in the practice as needed. Assist in meeting accreditation and legal requirements and regulations of the hospital (e.g., JCAHO, City, State, and Federal). Collaborate with the Physician Practice Management Director and other management and clinical staff to assure smooth operation of the practice. Maintain working knowledge of licensing, credentialing, and reimbursement issues; participate in evaluating the competency of support staff. Maintain good working relationships with consulting, referring and attending physicians and other health professionals. Participate in hospital Medical Staff committees as required. Adhere to Standards of Medical Practice and contribute to quality assurance indicators for the practice. Maintain complete and accurate records of all patient care activities. Follow corporate policies on fire and safety, hazardous materials handling (if applicable), and infection control. Demonstrate critical thinking and independent judgment in evaluating patient care; utilize resources to meet patient and family health care needs. Assist in improving medical and nursing care within the practice and provide recommendations for equipment, staffing, space, utilization, quality assurance, and related areas. Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality; maintain courteous and respectful interactions with patients, families, and staff. Explain therapies and treatments to patients and families as needed; maintain a safe, clean, and private patient care environment; orient new personnel. Develop and maintain good rapport with staff and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications
