Department Overview The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. The duties include actively participating in education, research, patient care, and administrative programs within the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, with an emphasis on Total Joint and general orthopaedics. The position involves all aspects of clinical patient care as outlined by the Chair of the Department.
Function/Duties of Position
Clinical:
The Clinical Director assigns the schedule. The position primarily involves Orthopaedic Total Joint surgery, with some general Orthopaedics care. The surgeon will also take call as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education:
Responsible for teaching medical students and residents in clinical settings and through lectures, as assigned by the Director of Education.
Research:
Resources are available for start-up and ongoing research support.
Administration:
Administrative duties may be assigned based on departmental needs and interests, with opportunities for departmental management and committee participation.
Required Qualifications
M.D. or equivalent degree/training; completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency; completion of a Total Joint Fellowship.
