Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency training: Completed approved residency leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by the VA, ACGME, or AOA, or be a non-US program with at least five years of verified practice in the U.S. Residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. Duties
Consult with medical staff on patient care issues. Supervise and mentor trainees. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (to be discussed with supervisor).
