Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in scenic sunny Tucson, Arizona is currently looking for an
physician - BHIP psychiatrist dual diagnosis . The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Medical students, residents, and fellows train at our facility. The selected candidate must also be eligible for a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona. It offers a beautiful 150-acre campus with a full range of medical and mental health services for Veterans, including a 31-bed inpatient psychiatry unit, a 25-bed mental health residential rehabilitation program, intensive outpatient programs, homeless programs, and more. Tucson is a great place to live for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and those who enjoy rich culture and an affiliation with a world-class university. Tucson truly is a city with a friendly, small-town feel. Responsibilities
Provide outpatient care to Veterans with mental health and substance use disorders as part of an integrated team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and clinical pharmacists. Work with a Care Coordinator who triages walk-in patients, answers patient calls, and serves as a physician extender as appropriate. Conduct 60-minute intakes and 30-minute follow-ups. Schedule 6 clinical hours per day. Limited call duties (3-4 weeks/year home call, in-house weekend rounding). Alternative working conditions may be considered. Teaching opportunities with the University of Arizona Medical School are available. Work Schedule
Full-time, permanent, with the tour of duty to be determined by the service line. Minimum Requirements
Board certified in psychiatry. Active and unrestricted license in any US state. Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree. Completion of residency in Psychiatry. Preferred Experience
Experience in outpatient settings working with various mental health disorders and substance use; experience with Veterans and/or active military preferred. Compensation and Benefits
VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including: Salary: $245,000 - $260,000 per year. Paid-Time Off: 50-55 days annually. Retirement: Federal pension and 401k with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care. CME: Up to $1,000/year reimbursement. Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage. Contract: No employment contract or restrictions on moonlighting. Additional Information
