Primary Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Assertive Community Treatment Team Psychiatrist are to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medications for people we support diagnosed with mental disorders to enhance their quality of life and support their integration into the community with as much self-determination and independence as possible.
What You'll Do:
Assess individuals served by the Assertive Community Treatment Team for mental health disorders and make appropriate DSM diagnoses.
Ensure services are delivered in a medically appropriate manner following service definitions and best practices.
Review past treatments, evaluations, and other relevant information to develop diagnoses and person-centered plans, and coordinate referrals with team members.
Prescribe medications when appropriate.
Request diagnostic lab work as needed.
Maintain all necessary documentation and records in a timely manner, including using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Provide education to individuals to help them understand their diagnoses and recommend appropriate treatments. Involve and educate family members and other supports as appropriate.
Encourage individuals to participate in mental health therapy when suitable.
Collaborate with other providers such as counselors, psychologists, social workers, and medical staff from various agencies to discuss treatment plans and progress.
Participate in staffing of complex or high-risk individuals with team members.
Provide clinical supervision to physician assistants and nurse practitioners, collaborating on medical licenses.
Attend and participate in meetings and training as required, maintaining certification in all relevant agency, state, and federal requirements.
Follow all agency policies and service definitions.
Complete any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Travel may be required.
Meet regularly with team members and be available by phone.
Education Requirements: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) with Psychiatry specialization (Required).
Certifications:
ABPN - American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
DO - American Osteopathic Association
Valid Driver's License
State Medical Board Certification
Accredited Psychiatry Training Program
Experience: Clinical experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness is preferred but not required.
Schedule: Target weekly hours: 26
