Join the Advanced Heart Failure – Cardiac Transplant Team at the level of Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Child Health. Opportunities to develop into the role of Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support depending on experience. Participation in clinical care of pediatric heart transplant and heart failure patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. Support the mechanical circulatory support program offering the full range of pediatric and adult devices. Provide patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team including transplant cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and dedicated NP/PA providers. Contribute to teaching and mentoring of fellows, residents, medical students, and nurses; participate in workplace-based and didactic teaching. Qualifications
M.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics. Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Arizona. Completed ACGME-accredited 3-year fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology with 1–2 years of additional advanced subspecialty training in pediatric advanced heart failure, including management of cardiac transplant patients and mechanical circulatory support. Not currently accepting J1 visa candidates. Academic clinical focus with preference for clinical and/or translational research; basic science opportunities available. Academic appointments facilitated at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and Tucson, Creighton University School of Medicine, and Mayo Clinic School of Medicine – Scottsdale; research collaborations with tGen and Arizona State University. The Division of Cardiology currently hosts a fellowship program in general pediatric cardiology and subspecialty fellowships in pediatric cardiac critical care, advanced cardiac imaging, and interventional cardiac catheterization. The inpatient service includes a 48-bed CV intensive care unit and transition care unit. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary patient care and the provision of teaching to fellows, residents, medical students, and nurses. The team includes 24 cardiologists, 13 cardiac intensivists, 3 cardiovascular surgeons, and 25 advanced practice providers. Inpatient pediatric cardiac care is centered at Phoenix Children’s Hospital; adult congenital inpatient care and procedures are provided at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Ambulatory cardiac services are centered at the Center for Heart Care – Thomas Campus with satellite offices around the Phoenix metropolitan area, and additional general cardiology outreach offices in Tucson, Prescott, and Yuma, AZ. The Phoenix metropolitan area is the fifth-largest in the United States, with a population of ~1.6 million and an estimated pediatric population of 1 million in Maricopa County. Phoenix Children’s is one of the largest freestanding children’s hospitals in the nation, with 433 licensed beds. The city offers abundant recreational and cultural opportunities.
