The CRNA is responsible for pre-anesthetic evaluation. Prepare an appropriate health history, conduct a physical exam, request pertinent diagnostic studies, and select, obtain, order, and administer pre-anesthetic medications. Obtain informed consent for anesthesia, induction, maintenance, and emergence. Perform preoperative and intraoperative care. Obtain, prepare, and use all equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs used for the administration of anesthesia, performing safety checks as needed. Select, obtain, or administer the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and blood products necessary to manage the anesthetics. Perform all aspects of airway management, insert peripheral venous catheters, and manage Bier Blocks. Provide non-invasive monitoring modalities using current standards. Evaluate patient response during emergence and institute pharmacological or supportive treatment to ensure stability during transfer. Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation of the patient\'s response to anesthesia and the surgical experience. Initiate and administer respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation post-anesthesia. Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system during the post-anesthetic period. Requirements
Graduate from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the state of Massachusetts. At least one full year (12 months) of CRNA experience. Possess BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
