Overview The Surgical Technologist, an essential member of the surgical team, ensures appropriate selection, preparation, and sterility of instrumentation and equipment necessary to contribute to a positive outcome for the surgical patient. They are responsible for assisting the team by scrubbing in on general OR cases.

Schedule: Full Time, Days, 40 Hours, 4 10s
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000.00 for external applicants with one or more years of experience as a Surgical Technician. Promotion available from June 30 to September 30.
Essential Responsibilities / Duties
Performs the role of a resource surgical technologist.
Performs scrub duties according to procedure, demonstrating a high level of skill and efficiency in a fast-paced, highly specialized environment.
Works closely with the surgical team to facilitate and coordinate high-quality patient care.
Participates in staff meetings and in-service presentations.
Accounts for accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of national patient safety goals.
Acts as preceptor for staff members for all aspects of the OR.
Maintains a respectful, organized work environment and restocks/restores rooms and equipment as needed.
Maintains aseptic technique and a sterile environment.
Anticipates instruments/equipment needed by the surgeon.
Assists in turnover of rooms and preps OR for patients.
Participates in the Time Out process and communicates any concerns to ensure patient safety.
Completes tasks with accuracy in a fast-paced setting; assists with retractors and other requests during procedures.
Handles tissue specimens for laboratory analysis.
Organizes and restocks the OR following procedures.
Education
Accredited Surgical Tech Program, associate's degree or higher.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required
ARC/STSA-Accredited Surgical Technology Program; or NBSTSA certification (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
Experience
Required: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician.
Preferred: 2–3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in an acute care setting.
Knowledge And Skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team providing excellent specialized care.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with surgeons and other staff.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in case preparation, aseptic technique, instrumentation, equipment, and room turnover.
