The Emergency Response Nurse (ERN) has the responsibility for responding to calls and critical situations or concerns on all critical care and emergency units. The ERN will assess, evaluate, and initiate approved interventions as appropriate to patients at risk for or exhibiting a change in condition. The ERN will utilize critical nursing and thinking skills to support quality patient care and optimum outcomes. Acts as a role model by mentoring and educating nursing staff while assisting in delivering bedside care in a supportive relationship that facilitates appropriate and timely treatment of patients. Maintain open communication with all staff to promote performance improvement and the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients. Responsibilities
Respond to calls and critical situations on critical care and emergency units. Assess, evaluate, and initiate approved interventions for patients at risk or with changes in condition. Mentor and educate nursing staff; assist in delivering bedside care. Support safety and well-being of patients and promote performance improvement through open communication. What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications
Current California Registered Nurse license AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Minimum 5 years as a Critical Care Nurse Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms Conditions of Employment
