Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment requirements under previous standards are deemed qualified. Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible) Degree of MD or equivalent from an approved school Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. Completion of residency training approved by the VA or equivalent Enrolled residents in approved programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under specific conditions Proficiency in spoken and written English Physical requirements include moderate lifting, light carrying, use of fingers, walking, standing, and the ability to work closely with others and independently Duties
Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and consult with ambulatory adults in an outpatient setting at Saint Louis VA Health Care System Provide direct patient care, engage in population health management, and participate in quality improvement projects Manage a panel of primary care patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, make referrals, order and evaluate diagnostic tests, and document all clinical activities in CPRS Respond to alerts and patient requests promptly, adhere to performance standards, and act as a resource for team members Participate in VA's total rewards program, including education debt reduction, competitive salary, paid time off, retirement options, and insurance benefits Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
