12656 Position Summary
Director of Surgical Services will be responsible for directing all surgical services, such as procedures, signing documents, arranging payments, and providing accurate data regarding surgeries for their institutions, as well as coordinating a group of professionals to complete surgery organization tasks and provide necessary information to schedule surgeries. They also facilitate paperwork, explain legal details as well as risks during surgeries, and must follow strict confidentiality regulations at all times to prevent identity theft incidents. The Director will also help manage time and financial responsibilities by budgeting materials and operating room time distribution and should be able to multitask on a variety of projects to achieve institutional goals in a timely manner. They must ensure that all supplies and equipment are clean and ready for use during procedures and should have strong interpersonal skills to find innovative solutions for real-time issues, prioritize surgeries, and provide the best quality service. This Position will oversee the Surgical Departments of GI, OR and Central Supplies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directs, supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates nursing and operational activities within surgical services sections to provide quality patient care and competent nursing staff. Provides oversight and leadership within assigned area of responsibility. Assists in the management of the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities. Plans and implements systems that accomplish work objectives and fulfill the mission and goals efficiently and effectively. Plans and allocates resources to effectively staff department and accomplish productivity and quality goals. Plans, evaluates, and improves the efficiency of processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output. Formulates business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of the department. Reviews performance data that includes quality, satisfaction, engagement, and financial reports. Monitors and measures productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness. Participates in the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the area of responsibility. Prepares periodic reports for management to track goal accomplishment. Leads colleagues using performance management and development process. Oversees business operations of the affiliate and exercises discretion and independent judgment. Evaluates performance and professional development of staff. Supervisory authority includes authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, and recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, responsibly direct or adjust grievances. Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or related field with two years of experience in nursing administration; Master’s degree in nursing preferred Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Experience with QA/The Joint Commission process for quality improvement. Surgical Services, Operating Room knowledge and skills Current license as registered nurse to practice professional nursing in the State of California. Nursing: 1 year (Required) JCAHO: 3 years (Preferred) Regulatory Compliance: 5 years (Preferred) Evidence of leadership, creativity, integrity, initiative, and communication skills. Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position Four years of experience in nursing administration or supervision with evidence of continuing education directly related to the job specification. Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties. Able to lift up to 30 pounds Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment Standing, walking and moving 50% of the day Compliance Requirements
Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs. Base Pay Scale
Starting at $172,369.60 – $258,356.80 per year. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
