Location: San Francisco, CA | Benioff Children\'s Hospital, Mission Bay (SF)

Job Summary UCSF Benioff Children\'s Hospital is recognized as a leader in health care, known for innovation, technology and compassionate care. Our 180-bed hospital has more than 150 specialists in more than 40 areas of medicine. The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) is an 18-bed unit specializing in care for children with complex congenital cardiac disease. Treatments include surgical repair of congenital heart defects, permanent pacemaker insertion, and management of acute/chronic heart failure, septic shock, renal and respiratory failure. Advanced modalities may include mechanical ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, ventricular assist devices, temporary pacemaker therapy, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy and acute hemodialysis.

The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full member of the team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows and residents. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief and perform duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.

The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy. Salary ranges and placement are described below, within the UCSF compensation framework.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows and residents in the PCICU.

Meet productivity expectations and perform duties related to patient care as delineated by policy.

Utilize evidence-based practices to manage acutely and critically ill pediatric patients in the cardiac ICU.

Participate in interprofessional rounds and care planning.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master\'s degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Demonstration of advanced interpersonal skills when working with families of acutely and critically ill children.

Excellent organization and communication skills.

Dedication to patient care and ability to think critically and solve problems.

Nurse Practitioner 1:

Less than six (6) months of experience as an NP.

Two (2) years with recent experience as an RN in pediatric critical care or pediatric cardiology.

Nurse Practitioner 2:

Minimum of six (6) months of NP experience in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU or Pediatric Critical Care.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years of RN experience in pediatric critical care or pediatric cardiology.

License/Certification

California RN license without restriction.

California Certified Nurse Practitioner without restriction.

California NP Furnishing Number including Schedule II furnishing privileges.

NP national board certification aligned with patient population and clinical role (Inpatient - Pediatric Inpatient, CP NP-AC).

California Driver License (if required for position).

DEA Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5 registered to a California address.

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Additional required AHA certifications: None stated.

UCSF Medical Center credentialing may be required prior to first day of work. Credentialing can take 60–90 days or more.
