Onsite (Weekday and some Weekend Coverage Required) Overview
We are seeking
Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrists
to provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health services to veterans at the VA Medical Center, focused on delivering patient-centered psychiatric care in collaboration with VA staff. Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive
inpatient psychiatric care , including admissions, evaluations, treatment planning, management, discharges, and documentation. Provide
outpatient psychiatric services , including new patient evaluations, follow-ups, management of severely mentally ill patients, and electronic consultations. Manage an average of
6.5 patient bookable hours per day . Participate in
peer reviews , case reviews, and benefit appeal evaluations as assigned. Ensure timely
communication of test results
and proper medication management in line with VA policies. Document all care in the
VA Electronic Health Record (CPRS/VistA)
in compliance with VHA directives. Provide
discharge education and follow-up planning
for continuity of care. Maintain compliance with
patient safety, infection control, and HIPAA/VA privacy standards . Participate in
quality assurance, safety reporting, and training requirements
mandated by VA. Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD)
from an accredited institution. (Unrestricted medical license) Board Certified/Board Eligible
in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Current
Basic Life Support (BLS)
and
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
certifications. Must complete mandatory
VA training programs
(e.g., ethics, HIPAA, suicide prevention, disruptive behavior management). Demonstrated proficiency in English (oral and written). Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary mental health team. Additional Requirements
Must meet
credentialing and privileging standards
of the VA. Must comply with immunization requirements (TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, COVID-19). Must hold a
DEA license
and
National Provider Identifier (NPI) . U.S. Citizenship or compliance with federal work authorization requirements. Work Conditions
Full-time Coverage required for
planned/unplanned absences, weekends, and holidays . On-call duties may be required per VA Mental Health Service scheduling. Why Join
