Position Description:
The University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a pediatric rheumatologist. Appointment rank is open and may be to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track, depending on experience and research interests. The individual will join the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services specializing in rheumatology.
University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital hosts Iowa's largest pediatric rheumatology division, equipped to treat children and young adults with rheumatic diseases, which involve uncontrolled inflammation affecting tissues like joints, muscles, and skin. These conditions may present with pain, swelling, morning stiffness, fever, or rash. The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is ranked No. 44 in research in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report and No. 23 in NIH funding among public institutions. The UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is ranked No. 28 in NIH funding among public pediatric departments nationwide.
UI Stead Family Children's Hospital is Iowa's only nationally ranked children's hospital and home to the state's only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. The pediatric residency program trains 50 residents, and the hospital is ranked in six pediatric specialties by U.S. News & World Report.

Minimum Qualifications
Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent
Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics, or equivalent
Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Rheumatology, or equivalent
Licensed or eligible for licensure in Iowa
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in patient-oriented research
Teaching experience in pediatrics for students and residents
Evidence of scholarly activity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
