The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for an open track Vascular & Endovascular Surgery faculty position. This position offers the opportunity to participate in the growth of vascular surgery clinical care services and lead efforts in developing our limb-preservation program. A special interest in lower extremity disease is preferred. Meaningful involvement in mentorship and teaching of students, residents, and fellows is expected. Candidates interested in serving the vascular patient population in an academic environment, pursuing scholarly achievement, will be considered. Rank and tenure status depend on qualifications.

Program and Facilities The Department of Surgery has strong ACGME-accredited training programs, including our Vascular Surgery program with 5 plus 2 (accredited independent pathway) fellows, and our general surgery residency. Our Heart & Vascular Center is involved in strategic planning, resource identification, and program advancement.

Clinical Practice We care for patients with the full spectrum of vascular disease, including complex vascular surgery such as open and endovascular management of aortic and branch pathologies, lower extremity ischemia, venous diseases, vascular access, and cerebrovascular disease. Our facilities include state-of-the-art hybrid operating rooms, interventional suites, and modern cardiovascular intensive care units. The successful candidate will practice across all elements of vascular and endovascular surgery within our team-based care programs.

Leadership and Research The main clinical and leadership focus will be to develop our multidisciplinary limb-preservation program in collaboration with a team of medical specialists, interventional colleagues, and surgical podiatrists.

Qualifications

Medical Degree and completion or current enrollment in a vascular fellowship or residency.

Board-eligible or board-certified in vascular surgery.

Expertise in vascular patient care, with a focus on limb-preservation and peripheral arterial disease.

Possession of RVT or RVPI certification.

Strong interest in academic medicine demonstrated through research or teaching experience, with a thoughtful academic career proposal.
