The Physician is responsible for working with the nursing staff and physicians to provide comprehensive medical services and ensure the safety and quality of clinical care in the physician practice and Methodist LeBonheur Hospitals. A Brief Overview

The Physician is responsible for working with the nursing staff and physicians to provide comprehensive medical services and ensure the safety and quality of clinical care in the physician practice and Methodist LeBonheur Hospitals. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision, and Values. What you will do

Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, and assessments to diagnose and treat patients. Prescribe pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate. Refer patients to specialists and other care components as needed. Evaluate patient needs for medications and consider alternative care techniques. Manage daily operations of specific medical programs, units, or research functions. Coordinate patient care activities with nursing and support staff. Follow departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Participate in health promotion, education, and prevention programs. Explain procedures, discuss test results, and prescribed treatments with patients and families. Order, perform, and interpret tests; analyze records and reports for diagnosis. Maintain accurate documentation within 3 days of visits or discharges. Collaborate with other healthcare providers. Support call coverage for the practice and hospitals. Maintain acceptable productivity levels. Focus on patient and family satisfaction and retention. Develop strong partnerships with fellow physicians and support staff. Education/Formal Training Requirements

Licensed Physician in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas Board Certified Physician (American Osteopathic Association, ABMS, NBOME) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of legal, ethical, and accreditation standards for medical care. Ability to work independently and in teams. Knowledge of community medical services. Ability to supervise and train clinical staff and students. Excellent communication skills. Ability to maintain safety and quality standards. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms and reactions. Knowledge of drugs and patient care aids. Supervision Provided by this Position

Administrator, nurse practitioner, support staff Physical Demands

Must be physically and mentally capable to perform essential functions. Activities include climbing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, stooping, and repetitive motions. Must have good balance and coordination. Physical exertion up to 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently. Requires close visual acuity, including color and depth perception. Frequent patient contact and exposure to body fluids and hazardous materials. Ability to react quickly in emergencies.
