Overview
RN - Clinical Nurse Specialist Sports Medicine Location: US-CA-Fairfield. Schedule: Full-time, on-site, Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. Responsibilities
Prepare Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections. In-house / in-person training will be provided. Part of this procedure includes phlebotomy of the patient and therefore this skill is critical. Prepare patients for and administer medications and monitor afterwards for signs of complication or reaction; administer CPR and other resuscitative measures as needed. Ensure proper computer entry of patient data and equipment settings. Serve as an assistant during procedures: handling instruments, redirecting lighting, repositioning patients. Prepare all specimens for laboratory processing, place identification on all specimens, enter physician-ordered laboratory test requests into computer, and deliver to Pathology department. Assist with the orientation and training of newly hired personnel and incoming physicians starting the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. Assist with procedures within the scope of practice to include assisting physicians with PRP, prolotherapy, compartment pressure testing, ultrasound-guided injections, gait analysis, nerve hydro-dissection, visco-supplementation injections and steroid injections. Training will be provided. Schedule patients for follow-up appointments and for procedure appointments. Provide patient-specific pre-procedure instructions and participate in post-procedure teaching and discharge instructions. Provide post-procedure telephone triage (during business hours) and provide instructions based upon nursing interventions and as guided by supervising physician. Demonstrate and teach prescribed exercise regimens and stretching exercises. Assist patients with obtaining/fitting for prescribed orthotics/braces/splints stocked in the Sports Medicine Clinic. Educate patients and families on proper application and use of braces and splints. Become proficient in the setup of all equipment in the Sports Medicine Clinic used for procedures and treatments and assist the physician with those procedures. Equipment includes diagnostic ultrasound machines (GE and Sonosite), PRP machines (Emcyte), Stryker compartment pressure test device, treadmill for compartment pressure testing, and gait analysis program. Prepare rooms for procedures. Assist physicians with research projects, maintain CITI Training (Human Research Basic Course), screen patients and assist with procedures as part of research projects. Qualifications
Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license. 12 months experience in phlebotomy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Company Overview
